This is the design and architecture knowledge vault for Datler, a local-first app for keeping a record of anything you track: sleep, food, workouts, how a day felt, and whatever else you decide to count. It runs on Windows and Android, keeps each profile on your own device, and syncs between them.

The site (https://datler.ca) is the product; the source lives on GitHub. These docs are a graph of small, single-concept notes covering the data model, trackables and their entries, catalogs, readings, visualizations, sync, and more.

  • Trackable — the one thing everything is: anything you keep a record of
  • Architecture Overview — how the app, the core and the sync service fit together
  • Glossary — the words the app uses, and what each means
